Russia-UAE-Africa Food Security Forum 2019 kicks off with a wide turnout

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 18 February 2019: The second Russia-UAE-Africa Food Security Forum launched yesterday (Sunday, February 17, 2019) at the Dubai World Trade Centre, offering a prominent platform for discussions that aim to catalyse the transformation led by the global food security sector, strengthen commercial ties, and boost innovation in this vital sector.

The Forum is held under the patronage and in the presence of Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Minister of State for Food Security, and will be attended by ministers, leaders, decision-makers, and representatives from various Government entities and private companies in the UAE, Russia, and several African countries, including Uganda, Kenya, Tunisia, and South Sudan. This years edition also counts the UNs Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) among its guests, along with a number of international institutions and scientific research centres specializing in agriculture and food production.

H.E. Almheiri will be delivering the opening remarks at the Forum, followed by a keynote from H.E. Sergey Levin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, and H.E. Michael Werikhe Kafabusa, Minister of State for Trade Industry and Cooperatives of the Republic of Uganda. The Forum will host a series of high-profile sessions and panel discussions that seek to enhance cooperation among the three regions in both agriculture and trade. The Russia-UAE-Africa Food Security Forum will also explore advanced agricultural technologies and their role in enhancing food production, as well as ways to facilitate access to new and sustainable markets and improve global food security.

The Forum is organized by Dubai Consultancy, with support from Dubai World Trade Centre, on the sidelines of Gulfood 2019 the worlds largest annual commercial event for the food and beverage (F&B) industry. Activities are set to continue until February 21st, bringing together high-profile delegations from 120 countries in order to shed light on the latest products and technologies transforming the F&B market. The exhibition covers more than a million square feet at the Dubai World Trade Centre, welcoming more than 5,000 local, regional, and international exhibitors, who will be showcasing a myriad of products and innovative solutions for ensuring future food security.
