Rasmala Celebrates 25 Years with Sustainability Pledge, Planting 500 Mangroves in UAE
In celebration of its 25th anniversary and World Wildlife Day, Rasmala has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by planting 500 mangrove trees in the UAE. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with Goumbook’s Trees Matter campaign and aligned with the UAE’s National Carbon Sequestration Program, supports the nation’s goal of planting 100 million mangroves by 2030.
Mangroves: A Natural Solution to Climate Change
Mangrove forests are among the world’s most vital ecosystems, contributing significantly to environmental conservation:
- Carbon Absorption: Mangroves capture 3-4 times more carbon than tropical rainforests, making them a key tool for climate change mitigation.
- Marine Biodiversity: They sustain 80% of fish populations, supporting local fisheries.
- Coastal Protection: Mangroves act as natural barriers against storms, rising sea levels, and erosion.
- Water Filtration: They help improve marine ecosystems by filtering pollutants naturally.
A Commitment to Long-Term Sustainability
Zak Hydari, Group CEO of Rasmala Holdings, emphasized the company’s long-term sustainability goals, stating:
"This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainability in the UAE, both in its financial ecosystem and natural environment. Each tree, planted on behalf of our employees, clients, and partners, symbolizes the lasting impact we aim to create in the communities we serve."
By aligning its mangrove planting initiative with World Wildlife Day, Rasmala aims to raise awareness of the global importance of conservation. The initiative is part of the company’s broader efforts to integrate sustainability into its corporate strategy.
Tatiana Antonelli Abella, Founder and Managing Director of Goumbook, highlighted the significance of corporate responsibility in climate action:
"At Goumbook, we believe every tree planted is a step toward a more resilient and biodiverse future. Rasmala’s commitment to mangrove restoration demonstrates the power of corporate responsibility in tackling climate change and protecting natural ecosystems."
Sustainability Integrated into Business Growth
As part of its ongoing commitment, Rasmala has pledged to plant 25 mangrove trees for every successful deal closed in 2025. This initiative embeds environmental responsibility into the company’s investment strategy, ensuring that sustainability remains a core component of its growth.
