Rashid Dabdob’s Nada Saruq Al Hadid Unveils Dubai’s Ancient Civilization in New Novel
Emirati author Rashid Dabdob has released a captivating new novel, Nada Saruq Al Hadid, which transports readers back 4,000 years to the ancient land of Dubai, inspired by the golden ring that served as a symbol for Expo 2020 Dubai. Through a blend of fictional storytelling and historical facts, the novel unveils life during that era, celebrating values of wisdom and chivalry that define Emirati heritage.
Inspired by archaeological finds in Dubai's Marmoom area—unearthed in 2002 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum—Dabdob’s novel offers a unique perspective on the early civilizations that connected the UAE to the world. "This novel connects readers to the depth of Emirati civilization, weaving cultural heritage with archaeological documentation from Dubai, in a narrative passed down from our ancestors," Dabdob explains.
Nada Saruq Al Hadid also showcases the biodiversity of ancient Dubai, describing the rich flora and fauna, including the majestic lions that roamed the land, each with distinct names and attributes reflecting their roles in local lore.
Targeted toward young adults, the novel aims to nurture an appreciation for the Arabic language and cultural history. Nada Saruq Al Hadid will be featured at the Austin Macauley booth (Booth X20, Hall 1) during the Sharjah International Book Fair from November 6-17, 2024, offering young readers a literary journey into the depths of Emirati heritage and a reflection of its enduring values.
