Piano Camp Prepares Emirati Youth for Inaugural Steinway Competition

In a groundbreaking collaboration with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), HOUSE OF PIANOS UAE and STEINWAY & SONS Dubai have launched a comprehensive six-month piano camp aimed at empowering young Emirati students. This intensive program is designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to compete in the upcoming Steinway Piano Competition, a first-of-its-kind event in the region.

Set to begin this October, the piano camp is a critical part of the preparation for the Steinway Piano Competition, scheduled for April 21-25, 2025, at Steinway Hall in Dubai. Over the six months, students will follow a structured curriculum that includes group piano lessons focusing on technique, articulation, and interpretation. The program also features masterclasses with renowned Steinway artists, Emirati composers, and musicians who will provide expert guidance to elevate students' piano repertoire. Additionally, the camp includes group lectures covering classical music, piano history, music theory, and performance psychology. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend concerts at Steinway Hall and various venues across the UAE, enriching their overall learning experience.

Emirati students interested in participating are invited to apply by submitting an application form and a short video performance through the Steinway UAE website. The application deadline is September 23, 2024. A selection committee will review the submissions and group students based on age and skill level. An introductory meeting will be held for students and parents to outline the program details, expectations, and to introduce the teaching staff.

Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "Dubai Culture is dedicated to nurturing young Emirati talent across all artistic disciplines. This piano camp not only provides world-class training but also enhances Dubai's cultural landscape by supporting young musicians. The Steinway Piano Competition will offer a platform for these emerging artists to gain both regional and international recognition, celebrating the fusion of classical and Emirati music traditions."

The inaugural Steinway Piano Competition GCC will spotlight the Gulf's most promising young pianists, with categories open to children up to 17 years old. With support from Dubai Culture, this event is poised to foster musical excellence and cultural appreciation throughout the region.
