MoHESR and KHDA Partner to Elevate UAE’s Higher Education Sector
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has signed two pivotal partnership agreements with Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). These agreements aim to support scholarship students and streamline accreditation processes for higher education institutions in Dubai, aligning with the UAE’s vision to enhance the quality of education and align it with global trends and labor market demands.
Supporting Scholarship Students
The first agreement focuses on improving academic and administrative support for students under the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Scholarship Programme. This initiative targets the top 100 Emirati graduates from public and private schools annually, offering them opportunities to pursue bachelor’s degrees in strategic disciplines aligned with Dubai’s future growth priorities. The programme aims to foster academic excellence, leadership, and innovation among Emirati students, shaping them into future leaders in various fields.
Streamlining Accreditation
The second agreement seeks to enhance the licensing and accreditation of higher education institutions in Dubai. This move is designed to position the UAE as a leading international destination for higher education, attracting prestigious academic institutions from across the globe.
Leadership Commitment
The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Her Excellency Aisha Abdulla Miran, Director General of KHDA, along with senior officials from both entities.
Dr. Al Awar emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships to support the UAE’s transition to a modern knowledge-based society. He stated:
"These agreements aim to create an environment that attracts leading educational institutions, enhancing the UAE’s higher education sector and boosting its global competitiveness."
Her Excellency Aisha Abdulla Miran added:
"We are committed to working with MoHESR to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global hub for innovation and academic excellence, ensuring our higher education system remains a premier destination for students and world-class universities."
