Ministry of Environment and Water organizes workshop on National Environmental Education & Awareness Strategy

United Arab Emirates, September 8, 2015 The Ministry of Environment and Water organized today (Tuesday, September 8, 2015) a workshop on National Environmental Education and Awareness Strategy at the Intercontinental Hotel. The more than 70 participants from the government and private sectors were the Ministrys strategic partners in its efforts to promote environmental sustainability in line with UAE Vision 2021.

Eng. Aisha Mohammed Al Abdooli, Director of the Ministrys Education and Awareness Department, emphasized that stronger cooperation among stakeholders in the UAE is fundamental to the states bid to raise local environmental awareness. Eng. Al Abdooli thanked all government and non-government organizations for initiating environmental actions and working towards achieving the objectives of the National Environmental Education and Awareness Strategy.

During the workshop, the Director said the participants defined the strategys workflow and implementation of several environmental priorities such as integrated waste management, air quality improvement, conservation of water resources, and protection of biological diversity. She also pointed out that education is an integral part of environmental conservation policies and development, which have been designed to complement UAE culture and greatly contributes to individual or group actions towards the environment and its resources.

Eng. Al Abdooli said the National Environmental Education and Awareness Strategy is a unified quality step towards raising environmental awareness in the UAE. She added that the strategy plays an important role as it contains all efforts towards increasing environmental awareness and changing human behavior patterns over the countrys natural resources. It will also help attain the goals of UAE Vision 2021.
