MBRF signs MoU with ALECSO to boost Arabic language in scientific and intellectual fields

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization to strengthen the use of the Arabic language across scientific, intellectual, and digital domains.

The agreement reflects a shared commitment to enhancing Arabic knowledge production, expanding its accessibility, and reinforcing its role as a key medium for innovation, research, and cultural dialogue in an era of rapid digital transformation.

Strengthening Arabic in the global knowledge landscape

The MoU underscores MBRF’s continued efforts to support knowledge creation and dissemination, while positioning Arabic as a competitive language in global digital ecosystems. The collaboration also aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and promote the language’s role in civilizational and scientific discourse.

Mohamed Ould Amar described the agreement as a milestone in advancing Arab partnerships, particularly in knowledge development and dissemination, and in adapting to fast-evolving digital trends.

He highlighted that the collaboration represents a model of Arab integration, built on shared expertise and capabilities, to produce high-quality Arabic content capable of competing globally.

Focus on youth, education and digital presence

ALECSO is also working to strengthen Arabic’s presence in digital spaces through initiatives such as the Arabic Language Reference Framework, designed to support teaching, learning, and assessment.

This framework aims to empower Arab youth to use the language effectively across education, research, and creative industries, while reinforcing cultural identity and social awareness.

Driving collaboration and innovation

Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, said the partnership aligns with a broader vision to build a collaborative knowledge ecosystem that enhances the competitiveness of Arabic content in advanced digital environments.

He also highlighted the impact of initiatives such as ‘Bil Arabi’, which promotes the integration of Arabic into daily life and digital platforms, encouraging younger generations to embrace it as a language of creativity and innovation.

Key initiatives under the agreement

Under the MoU, both entities will work together on a range of initiatives, including:

  • Launching joint developmental programmes to enrich digital Arabic content
  • Improving the discoverability of Arabic knowledge across search engines and digital libraries
  • Organising workshops for non-native Arabic speakers
  • Hosting specialised conferences and seminars
  • Translating research and studies into Arabic to expand knowledge access

These efforts are designed to strengthen knowledge production, support regional development, and position the Arab world more prominently within the global knowledge economy.

Empowering the next generation

The agreement reinforces MBRF’s commitment to equipping Arab youth with the tools needed to navigate modern challenges, while maintaining a strong connection to their linguistic and cultural heritage.

By advancing Arabic as a language of science, thought, and innovation, the partnership aims to ensure its continued relevance and influence across digital platforms and global knowledge networks.
