MBRF discusses cooperation with Arab and international publishing houses during Frankfurt Book Fair 2015
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF), a leader in the dissemination of knowledge and supporter of development efforts in the world, concluded its successful participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2015 during which it held meetings with cultural institutions and Arab and international publishing houses to strengthen cooperation in the knowledge domain.
The world renowned book fair this year drew the participation of 7,500 exhibitors from 110 countries from all over the world, and witnessed the signing of several agreements and visits by dignitaries from the printing, publishing and translation industry.
Over the five consecutive days of the book fair, the MBRF stand attracted a number of visitors and dignitaries, most prominently His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. During his visit, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan received from Saif Al Mansoori, Corporate Affairs Advisor to Managing Director of MBRF, the book, The Great Outdoor Gallery, which was launched in both Arabic and English at the book fair in collaboration with Al Bayan newspaper.
The launch ceremony of The Great Outdoor Gallery was attended by a large gathering of cultural figures. The book documents the development of public art in the UAE with an analytical view of relevant art events in other places in the Arab region.
Commenting on MBRF participation at the Frankfurt Book Fair, HE Jamal Bin Huwaireb Managing Director of MBRF, said: The international exhibition provided an ideal platform to build bridges of communication and understanding between different cultures. It was an opportunity for MBRF to showcase its achievements and projects that contribute to the cultural movement in the region and the world through books launched during the exhibition.
He added that the presence of MBRF at the Frankfurt Book Fair enhanced its important role in the dissemination of knowledge and its support for sustainable development. The event was an occasion for the Foundation to meet the leading players and experts from the publishing sector from the Arab and international arena, and share experiences in the areas of innovation and knowledge.
The MBRF stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair received a cultural delegation from the Kurdistan region in Iraq, headed by Khaled Abdulrahman Doski, Minister of Culture in Iraqi Kurdistan, who discussed with the MBRF delegation the opportunities to develop joint cultural relations between the two sides in the fields of exhibitions and translations initiatives.
The Foundation also released during its participation in the event, the Encyclopedia of Muslims in Sicily, prepared by Palestinian poet, critic translator and academic researcher Salma Khadra Jayyusi, a well-known figure in international literary circles for her outstanding work of more than half century.
