Landmark Group's Beat Diabetes Walk Proceeds for its 11th edition

Beat Diabetes 2019 is set to take place at Dubai Zabeel Park on Friday, November 15, 2019, with online registration now open at www.beatdiabetes.me.

Landmark Group will host its 11th edition of the Beat Diabetes Walk at Zabeel Park in Dubai on Friday, November 15 this year. The annual flagship CSR initiative by the retailer brings together thousands of people annually to raise awareness of diabetes among residents of the UAE.

Earlier this year, Landmark Group was selected as one of the first companies to be awarded the Sports Branding Award for their decade-long effort in the UAE. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prince of Dubai Crown and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, presented the award to Founder Chairman Micky Jagtiani and Landmark Group Chairman and CEO Renuka Jagtiani.

Renuka Jagtani, Chairwoman and CEO of Landmark Group, said: Diabetes is a cause that is very close to our heart as there are many causes. We, as a family, have also experienced the impact of this condition - so we began to passionately drive this cause to encourage families to work together and make lifestyle changes that are easier to manage.

In every edition of Beat Diabetes, we have seen the community join us in our efforts to raise their level of support and raise awareness of the condition. We are very grateful to the leadership of the UAE for recognizing the reason for this, thanks to our long-standing partners, the Sports Council of Dubai. This years Beat Diabetes effort will be teamed up with the Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30. To reach the wider community and spread the message of leading an active lifestyle among children, Beat Diabetes and Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30 will work together to host a month-long fitness program in schools across the UAE - with the common goal of encouraging the UAE community to lead Lifestyle.

With the increasing prevalence of diabetes in the region, mainly due to sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits, the need to promote healthy living among the community is more important today than ever before. According to the latest figures from the International Diabetes Federation, the number of people with diabetes in the United Arab Emirates is expected to double to 2.2 million by 2040.

Beat Diabetes Walk 2019 3km Length, and includes a full schedule of fun activities for kids and adults, including free zumba, yoga, spot fitness challenges and a bungee challenge, a sports zone with football and basketball. Open to both children and adults, registration for the Eleventh Annual Beat Diabetes Walk in the UAE can be completed online at www.beatdiabetes.me from October 10 to November 22, 2019. Children under 8 can join the walk for free, AED20 for adults, and AED10 for children ages 8-14. All funds generated from the participation fee will be donated to charities.

All registered attendees will receive a Beat Diabetes T-shirt and hat via a hat-free Walkathon kit and courier through Aramex.
