Knowledge Lounge Hosts Inspiring Literary Sessions with International Prize for Arabic Fiction
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), through its flagship initiative Knowledge Lounge, has organised a series of literary dialogue sessions in collaboration with the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF), bringing together leading writers and literary figures to discuss works shortlisted for the 2026 edition of the prize.
The sessions highlighted MBRF’s commitment to promoting the Arabic language and literary culture, while creating a platform for direct engagement between authors and readers. By fostering an interactive environment, the initiative also aimed to support emerging literary talent and enhance critical reading and analysis skills among audiences.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, said the initiative reflects the foundation’s ongoing efforts to support the growing intellectual and literary movement across the Arab world. He emphasised that such collaborations contribute to building knowledge-driven societies and strengthening the global presence of Arabic literature.
Dr. Yasir Suleiman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IPAF, noted that the sessions provided a valuable opportunity for meaningful dialogue between writers and their readership, highlighting the increasing cultural awareness among Arab audiences and the importance of literary discussions in shaping intellectual communities.
The sessions featured in-depth discussions on several shortlisted novels. Iraqi author Diaa Jubaili explored themes in his work The Seer, tracing the rise and fall of civilisations, while Algerian writer Said Khatibi discussed I Resist the River’s Course, examining its underlying themes and narrative depth. Khatibi described the sessions as a unique platform that goes beyond traditional readings, enabling authors to gain new perspectives on their own work through audience interaction.
Additional sessions included Egyptian author Doaa Ibrahim, who delved into the psychological themes of A Cloud Above My Head, and Algerian writer Amin Zaoui, who shared insights into the philosophical dimensions of Siesta Dream. Meanwhile, Ahmad Abdulatif discussed The Origin of Species, focusing on contemporary human challenges, while Lebanese author Najwa Barakat explored emotional and narrative depth in The Absence of Mai.
Through these sessions, Knowledge Lounge continues to play a key role in connecting writers, readers, and critics, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a regional hub for culture and intellectual exchange.
