King’s College Doha celebrates community spirit at DRFC Chairman’s Day
King’s College Doha reinforced its commitment to youth development and community engagement by supporting the annual Chairman’s Day hosted by Doha Rugby Football Club (DRFC).
Held on April 17, the event brought together more than 400 children aged 3 to 18 from across Doha for a lively mini and youth rugby tournament, highlighting teamwork, resilience, and inclusivity.
A celebration of youth, sport and community
Led by Iain Driscoll, Deputy Head (Enrichment and Wellbeing), and supported by the school’s leadership team and teaching staff, the event showcased the strong collaboration between the institution and one of Qatar’s most established sports clubs.
Young participants competed in a series of intra-club matches, demonstrating not only their sporting abilities but also a shared passion for rugby in a supportive and energetic environment.
Recognising every participant
A key highlight of the day was the emphasis on recognition and encouragement. Every participant received individual acknowledgement, including personalised congratulatory messages from Principal Kate Jackson.
Presentations were held throughout the day, with each age group celebrated on stage by their team managers, fostering a strong sense of achievement and community pride.
Kate Jackson commented that the event reflects the values at the heart of the partnership, noting that sport plays a vital role in shaping confident, resilient, and well-rounded individuals.
Strengthening a meaningful partnership
Tim Newnham, Chairman of DRFC, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, describing Chairman’s Day as a seasonal highlight that benefits the club’s Minis and Youth section.
He emphasised that the continued support from King’s College Doha helps create opportunities for more children to participate, develop their skills, and enjoy the sport.
Building pathways for youth development
The event forms part of a broader partnership between King’s College Doha and DRFC, centred on a shared vision of nurturing young talent both on and off the field.
By promoting grassroots sport and encouraging participation at all levels, the collaboration continues to strengthen youth development pathways and community connections across Doha.
