IIM Ahmedabad's first international campus inaugurated in Dubai
The esteemed Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has officially launched its first international campus, situated in Dubai International Academic City, a part of TECOM Group PJSC. The inauguration was presided over by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The move is a joint initiative between the governments of India and the UAE, reflecting growing educational and economic collaboration. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, speaking at the event, emphasized Dubai’s ambition to be a global hub for talent, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He highlighted efforts to position Dubai among the world’s top student cities by 2033 under the Education 33 Strategy, and underlined the role of young talent as a key pillar of the city’s future.
High-level delegations from both nations attended, including UAE dignitaries such as Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Indian leaders, including Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, and the Ambassador of India to the UAE.
The campus has commenced with a full-time one-year MBA programme, structured over five terms, welcoming an inaugural cohort of 35 students (27 men, 8 women) from diverse sectors like banking, consulting, healthcare, IT and manufacturing. Two centres of excellence, one for case writing and the other for startup incubation, are also planned as part of its early offerings, with further academic programmes expected in the near future.
