Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Champions Students in Robotics Competitions
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering innovation by supporting student teams in robotics competitions, particularly the prestigious First Lego League. This initiative aligns with the Foundation's mission to enhance students' technical and innovative skills, equipping them to tackle scientific challenges on local, regional, and global stages.
Robotics with a Purpose: Environmental Innovation
This year’s First Lego League theme, "Submerged," emphasizes marine ecosystem preservation. The Foundation's team is developing innovative solutions to address underwater environmental challenges, alongside designing a robot to excel in performing intricate tasks on a competition challenge table.
Track Record of Success
The Foundation’s robotics team achieved notable milestones last year, including:
- 2024 Open Robotics Championship in Norway: Secured third place in robot performance and first place in the friendly competition by surpassing top global teams.
- National Achievements: Won first place in robot design and performance at the national level, officially qualifying for the international championship.
Leadership Vision
Dr. Mariam Al Ghawi, Director of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Center for Giftedness and Innovation, commented:
“Our student teams represent the nation's innovative potential, and we remain steadfast in supporting their journey in these prestigious competitions. Last year’s remarkable achievements exemplify our dedication to nurturing young talent. This year, we expect even greater creativity and excellence as our team takes on new challenges.”
Empowering Future Innovators
These competitions offer students a platform to enhance skills in artificial intelligence, robotics, critical thinking, and teamwork. By participating, students gain practical expertise in strategic fields while contributing innovative solutions to real-world challenges, preparing them to lead in future scientific and technological advancements.
