Global Women in PR announce the launch of a new chapter in the Middle East on International Womens day

Global Women in PR is delighted to announce that on International Women's Day (March 8th) a new chapter is being launched for senior women operating in the PR market in the Middle East.

Information of this amazing new group, WPR Middle East, will be revealed at a joint occasion with PRCA MENA to mark the launch of these important brand-new organisations serving the PR industry in the Middle East and North Africa. Leading figures from the Public Relations market will join with essential company heads from the region. The night is being sponsored by leading recruitment and search specialists Hanson Search.

Talking about the launch Felice Hurst, from Hanson Search, who is heading up WPR Middle East, said "the launch is really timely for the region as the representation of ladies in society, the economy and the workforce continues to be a hot subject. Last year UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum revealed the formation of a 'Gender Balance Council' which aims to boost females's roles in developing the future of the country.

"There are lots of problems that have come to light concerning women in the PR industry in recent years, the most startling being the under representation of ladies in management functions, despite the fact that 67 % of the market is composed of females. By launching WPR MENA, I think we will be much better able to address the difficulties facing ladies in the industry in the Middle East, as well as much better supporting our clients and industry partners by providing access to these professional bodies. In addition to highlighting the gender imbalance at the top of the PR world, our purpose is to also help mentor the next generation of female PR specialists as they advance through their professions.".

Sue Hardwick and Angela Oakes, co-founders of GWPR, the global umbrella organisation that connects independent networking groups of Public Relations ladies together worldwide, said "we are delighted to invite WPR Middle East to the growing number of independent WPR groups operating under the GWPR banner. Our goal is to facilitate these groups to come together to share concepts, contacts and experiences and to campaign on the major issues directly impacting females operating in the Public Relations industry today.".

GWPR is a sector group of ICCO, current winners of the award for 'Overall Best International Association' at the Association Excellence Awards.
