The global beauty and personal care industry is on track to exceed $826 billion by 2029, driven by innovation, evolving consumer preferences, and the growing influence of regional markets such as the Middle East, according to insights revealed at Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2026.
Held in Bologna, the 2026 edition of the global beauty exhibition brought together 3,104 exhibitors from 68 countries, representing over 10,000 brands. With 80% international participation, the event reinforced its position as a leading global platform for the beauty industry.
Data presented at the event, based on research by Euromonitor International, shows the market growing from $635.2 billion in 2025 to $678.3 billion in 2026, reaching $826.1 billion by 2029, at an average annual growth rate of around 7%.
Skincare and Fragrance Drive Growth
Skincare remains the dominant segment, projected to surpass $198 billion by 2028, while fragrance is emerging as one of the fastest-growing categories, recording a 9.2% increase between 2025 and 2026. Colour cosmetics are expected to grow by 6.8%, and sun care by 7.8%, reflecting increasing demand for high-performance, experience-led, and wellness-oriented products.
The professional beauty segment is also expanding, with hair care forecast to exceed $116 billion by 2028. Men’s grooming is growing at 7.1%, while depilatory products are expected to rise by 5.7%, highlighting a broader shift toward specialised treatments and expert-led services.
Innovation Reshaping the Industry
Innovation across the beauty supply chain continues to accelerate, with key focus areas including biotechnology, microbiome-based skincare, sustainable formulations, and eco-friendly packaging. These advancements are transforming every stage of the product lifecycle—from research and formulation to manufacturing and distribution.
The event also underscored rising global engagement, with Cosmoprof reporting a 23% increase in interest from Middle Eastern markets, signalling the region’s growing role within the global beauty ecosystem.
Middle East Emerges as a Global Beauty Powerhouse
As the industry approaches the $1 trillion milestone, discussions at Cosmoprof highlighted the increasing influence of regional markets in shaping global beauty trends. The Middle East, in particular, is evolving from a high-growth market into a strategic decision-making hub for product development, branding, and distribution.
This shift was reflected in the presence of 33 national pavilions, including new entrants such as Saudi Arabia, underscoring the Kingdom’s expanding footprint in the global beauty landscape.
A key panel discussion titled “Beauty’s New Power Brokers: The Middle East Beyond the Shelf, Beyond the Market” explored how regional expertise, cultural relevance, and localised strategies are increasingly shaping global beauty outcomes.
The session featured industry leaders including Rabih Madi, Maysoon Younis, and Rosemin Opgenhaffen, and was moderated by Danae Mercer Ricci. Discussions highlighted the growing importance of aligning product development and storytelling with regional consumer expectations.
A Platform for Global Collaboration
By bringing together the full beauty ecosystem—from raw materials and formulation to finished products and professional services—Cosmoprof continues to serve as a hub for innovation and collaboration.
The event also facilitated business engagement through matchmaking programmes involving buyers from 94 countries, alongside platforms such as Cosmoprof My Match and Buyer Lounges, aimed at driving high-value partnerships across the beauty industry.
With strong growth projections, increasing innovation, and rising regional influence, Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2026 reaffirmed its role as a key platform shaping the future direction of the global beauty market.
