Dubai Culture to Host Shatha Essa’s ‘Off the Record’ Talk on Fashion Industry Insights

The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced an insightful talk by renowned Emirati fashion designer and entrepreneur Shatha Essa, titled "Off the Record: What Fashion Books Don’t Teach." The event is set to take place on November 5, 2024, at the Al Safa Art & Design Library, offering aspiring designers and fashion enthusiasts a rare glimpse into the business and creative sides of fashion design.

Shatha Essa, a respected figure in Emirati fashion, will share her journey of building her brand, Shatha Essa, and will provide practical advice on establishing successful fashion ventures. Key topics include cost management, determining markups, and effectively presenting fashion collections. Shatha will also discuss branding techniques, such as creating a unique tone of voice to connect with clients and building lasting customer relationships.

With a design degree from Zayed University and further studies at the University of the Arts London and Harvard Business School, Shatha Essa has made significant strides in the fashion industry. Her luxury fashion house, Shatha Essa, blends local heritage with contemporary design, and her children’s line, Shatha Essa Kids, was the first Emirati children’s brand featured in Harrods. Her collections, inspired by children's stories and dreams, have earned her a dedicated luxury space on Harrods’ fourth floor.

Dubai Culture's support of this event aligns with its ongoing mission to empower local talent and strengthen Dubai's creative and cultural industries, encouraging emerging designers to pursue their passions and turn their ideas into successful businesses.
