EQUATE, EPA, GPCA form partnership for Waste Free Environment campaign in Kuwait With the participation of several employees, students & volunteers For the 4th consecutive year Over 3800 kilograms of waste collected

To increase awareness about safeguarding and protecting the environment, EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwait's first international joint-venture in this industry, the Environment Public Authority (EPA) and Gulf Petrochemicals & Chemicals Association (GPCA) released, for the fourth successive year, a partnership for the Waste Free Environment (WFE) Beach Cleanup campaign.

The campaigns partners for this year consisted of Kuwait Municipality, K's Path, Touristic Enterprises Company, Kuwait Dive Team and a variety of schools. Held outside the Green Island, the activity was attended by numerous persons, including EQUATE workers, school students and other volunteers, who gathered 3840 kilograms of waste.

EPA Chairman & Director General Sheikh Abdullah Ahmad al-Humoud Al-Sabah stated, "On behalf of EPA, I need to express overall recognition to EQUATE for its continuous support of EPA's activities, such as sponsoring 'Teswa Nehmeha' advocate total community awareness relating to the new environmental law number 42 of 2014 and amended by law 99 of 2015. CORRESPOND's efforts are not restricted to supporting EPA as the business has actually introduced outstanding initiatives to safeguard the environment and was rewarded as the Gulf's top economic sector business in Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S). In addition, EQUATE has actually launched a number of world-class ecological initiatives, including the Middle East's First Plant Water Recycle Task, Kuwait's First 2 jobs for CO2 healing, Kuwait's First Seawater Cooling Towers, and others. Finally, much thankfulness to all individuals in today's partnership, along with everybody at EQUATE for their continuous EH&S excellence.".

On his part, EQUATE President & CEO Mohammad Husain said, "This partnership embodies the commitment of EQUATE, all participants and stakeholders to safeguard and maintain the environment as part of tactical objectives for the business, as well as the industrial sector within and outside Kuwait. In conclusion, I would like to extend utmost appreciation and appreciation to all of you, the EPA, Kuwait Municipality, GPCA, K's Path, Touristic Enterprises Company, Kuwait Dive Team, schools, media members, and our employees.".

GPCA Secretary-General Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun said, Our industry is the second largest manufacturing industry in this region and the products the chemical industry produces here in the Arabian Gulf, plastics in particular, contribute significantly to our quality of life, resource preservation and innovation. These products should be responsibly disposed of, either via recycling or energy recovery. This campaign provides us the opportunity to work alongside the community to show that littering our products is not acceptable and help spread knowledge about eco-efficient waste management in general. At the end of the day, waste is not caused by plastic companies, but by people. Educating people on how to properly dispose of litter will empower individuals to take initiative in sustaining the longevity of their environment.

In 2014, WFE gathered over 52 lots of waste gathered by over a thousand volunteers in the GCC, Europe and India. The campaign will run in 10 cities around the Gulf, as well as Mumbai's Juhu Beach, Shanghai's Nanhui Coastal Beach and in Sittard-Geleen in the Netherlands.
