ENOCs Ramadan activities to support charity work and reinforce community wellbeing

Underlining its commitment to society and the community, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) is rolling out a diverse array of initiatives to promote community wellbeing and support those in need during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Saif Al Falasi, Group Chief Executive Officer, ENOC, said: The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time of reflection and contemplation that allows us to reflect on ourselves and evolve as individuals. It brings us together and gives us an opportunity to observe the world around us with genuine compassion. This Ramadan, we are further highlighting our social responsibility by reaching out to all segments of the society to make a positive difference.

Over the years, we have observed the Holy Month through a series of activities that are aimed at promoting the values associated with Ramadan. These have been embraced by our employees, who play a pivotal role to its success, underlining their commitment to the companys values and efforts to be a socially responsible organisation. Our activities further contribute to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to establish Dubai as a city that cares.

ENOCs Ramadan 2015 activities include:
Ramadan Tent: one of the main activities of ENOC during the Holy Month is its Ramadan Tent to help those in need. An Iftar tent will be set up in Al Aweer in Dubai, and three Iftar tents will be set up in Fujairah to invite the less fortunate to enjoy Iftar meals. Each visitor will receive a food box including water, dates, Biryani, a utensils set and a pocket prayer mat.

Ramadan Aman campaign: As in previous years, ENOC will also be supporting Al Ihsan Charity Association on its A Safe Ramadan campaign under the theme, Together A Ramadan without Accidents. ENOC Volunteers will distribute Iftar packs to drivers who are at red lights, encouraging them to drive safely and not over speed.

TarabuT initiative: ENOCs employees and senior management will also take part in the distribution of dates and water to motorists at all service stations. The packs will contain dates, water, prayer beads, tea bags and tea mug to be distributed for free to motorists at all ENOC/EPPCO service stations 30 minutes before Iftar.

ENOC Retail is also distributing 23 donation boxes and tables across various service stations to raise funds for Dubai Charity Association.

Ramadan Lectures: now a tradition at ENOC, as part of its Ramadan activities, the organisation will host the Ramadan Lectures series, in English and Arabic. Aimed to educate employees about fasting and how to utilise this spiritual time, the Ramadan Lectures by renowned scholars will cover the beliefs, customs and practices related to the Holy Month.

Employees Suhoor event: in addition, as part of the companys strive to becoming employer of choice, ENOC will host an employees Suhoor event, to enhance the social bonding among staff members.

Free LPG Refill: further, in partnership with Dar Al Ber Society and held under the theme Feed a Family, Emirates Gas LLC (EMGAS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ENOC, will distribute free LPG refill vouchers to 500 underprivileged families in Dubai, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain. The vouchers entitle the needy families to a free refill of a 22kg LPG cylinder anytime between the first day of Ramadan until December 31, 2015.

Over the years, ENOC has demonstrated outstanding work through its ongoing CSR initiatives and has won the El-Baz Award for Excellence in Organisational Sustainability, Asias top laurel for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practices at the Asian Leadership Awards; and The Bizz Award, one of the most prestigious business awards world-wide, for outstanding corporate social responsibility practices.
