Emirates Health Services Implements Plan to Combat Seasonal Influenza

Emirates Health Services (EHS) has begun implementing its plan to combat seasonal influenza as part of the annual national awareness campaign, "Immunise Yourself, Protect Your Community," launched by the Ministry of Health and Prevention. The campaign, in collaboration with various health authorities, aims to raise public awareness about the importance of flu vaccination and train healthcare providers on global best practices to reduce the spread of the virus.

Dr. Shamsa Lootah, Director of the Public Health Department at EHS, emphasized the proactive measures being taken to enhance healthcare readiness and public understanding of influenza prevention. Seasonal influenza is a highly contagious viral infection that primarily affects the respiratory system and spreads easily among all age groups. Dr. Lootah highlighted that annual vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent infection and reduce complications.

EHS is providing the influenza vaccine free of charge to UAE nationals and vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, children under five, individuals with chronic illnesses, People of Determination, and those over 50 years old. In addition to providing vaccines, EHS is disseminating educational content via social media, digital platforms, and media outlets. It is also organizing workshops and awareness lectures for the general public, employees, and students to further promote the importance of flu vaccination.
