Emirates Health Services (EHS), through its Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, honored the winners of the second edition of the Al Amal Award for Scientific Research during a ceremony at Al Amal Hospital in Dubai. Building on the success of its inaugural edition in 2023, this year’s award underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering an evidence-based, innovative mental health care ecosystem.

The award brought together over 100 participants, including doctors, technicians, nurses, students, and researchers from renowned universities such as the University of Sharjah, Dubai University, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, Zayed University, and Fatima College of Health Sciences. This highlights the strong partnership between Emirates Health Services and academic institutions, aimed at advancing research and innovation in mental health.

Key achievements from the 2024 award include:

• A 45% increase in participation compared to the previous year.
• Submission of 30 published studies in peer-reviewed journals and 60 scientific posters.

Dr. Noor AlMheiri, Director of the Mental Health Department at EHS, highlighted that the award reflects the UAE's vision of creating an environment conducive to scientific research. She stated:

"This initiative aligns with policies and strategies aimed at achieving sustainable development and providing innovative solutions to societal mental health challenges."

Dr. Ammar Humaid Albanna, Director of Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, noted the growing recognition of the award as a vital platform for advancing mental health research. He emphasized the role of academic partnerships in promoting evidence-based practices, adding that the hospital trained over 900 individuals in various specialties this year, contributing to the next generation of mental health professionals.
