Emirates Government Excellence Council clears way for unified approach to achieve excellence in government

Emirates Government Excellence Council approved the formation of a unified work team led by Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme with membership of Dubai Government Excellence Programme, Sheikh Saqr Programme for Government Excellence, and Ajman Excellence Programme to work on the preparation of a national unified system for the registration and accreditation of excellence assessors.

Abdulla bin Touq, Executive Director for Excellence and Leadership at the UAE Prime Minister's Office and General Coordinator of Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme, said that the formation of a unified work team supports the Emirates Government Excellence Council and its goals to promote constructive cooperation between excellence programmes in the UAE and Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme to achieve government excellence in line with UAE Vision 2021.

Abdulla bin Touq said the second meeting of Emirates Government Excellence Council this year aimed to accomplish the recommendations of the first meeting and work towards a joint plan of excellence programmes in the UAE by sharing roles and tasks. The effort is to enrich the experience of government excellence in the UAE, which will reflect positively on the government's performance, and achieve the highest levels of satisfaction and happiness of the people, Touk added.

Dr. Ahmed Al Nuseirat, Coordinator-General, Dubai Government Excellence Programme, highlighted the Dubai Smart Training Initiative and commended the cooperation efforts of excellence programmes in the UAE. He said the initiatives launched by the Dubai Government Excellence Programme are designed to enhance performance and knowledge-based excellence through the adoption of best practices. He said the Dubai Government Excellence Programme aims to develop this initiative with all local and federal authorities.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammed Abdul Latif Khalifa, Director-General of the Sheikh Saqr Programme for Government Excellence, Sultan Al Rumaithi General Coordinator at Ajman Excellence Programme, and Mohamed Al Naki, Director of Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme.

The meeting decided that Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme will set up a private media plan for the Emirates Government Excellence Council, while Dubai Government Excellence Programme will prepare a working paper on the best ways to achieve effective partnership with excellence programmes in the private sector in the UAE. It also decided that Ajman Excellence Programme will prepare a working paper about the best ways to prepare and publish research and studies of success and excellence in the country.

Sheikh Saqr Programme for Government Excellence suggested designing a competitive model of government institutional excellence, and will prepare a working paper to be discussed in the next meeting.

The Dubai Government Excellence team highlighted during the meeting aspects of Dubai Smart Training Initiative, which is aimed at providing qualitative and innovative training for government employees through smart phones and other electronic devices.
