Emirates Development Bank Launches AGRIX Accelerator to Advance UAE's Food Security Sector
Emirates Development Bank (EDB) has introduced the AGRIX Accelerator, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming the UAE's agricultural sector. This 20-week program is designed to equip farmers, agribusinesses, and technology providers with advanced financial solutions and cutting-edge agri-tech tools. The launch supports the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051, which focuses on sustainable local food production and resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
The AGRIX Accelerator offers participants access to expert-led workshops, hands-on training, and personalized mentorship, fostering innovation and growth in agriculture. Smallholder farmers will gain essential skills to improve efficiency, adapt to climate change, and promote sustainable practices, building a collaborative community centered on sustainable agriculture.
H.E. Ahmed Mohamed Al Naqbi, CEO of EDB, emphasized the importance of the initiative: “Food security is a critical pillar of the UAE’s sustainable growth vision. The AGRIX Accelerator will enable the adoption of advanced technologies, driving the agricultural sector’s evolution and positioning the UAE as a leader on the Global Food Security Index.”
In addition to the accelerator, EDB provides specialized financial solutions through programs such as the UAE’s first AgriTech Loans Program. This initiative underscores the bank’s commitment to supporting agribusinesses and local producers with flexible financing options, facilitating the country’s journey toward food self-sufficiency and innovation.
The AGRIX Accelerator aligns with EDB's broader mandate to provide AED 30 billion in financing to priority sectors by 2026, enhancing economic diversification and solidifying the UAE’s leadership in agricultural innovation.
