Amazon UAE and UAE Food Bank Partner for Fifth Year to Provide Iftar Meals to Families in Need
Amazon UAE has partnered with the UAE Food Bank for the fifth consecutive year to launch the 2025 edition of its ‘Iftar on Wheels’ food donation program. The initiative aims to provide iftar meals and essential food supplies to thousands of underprivileged families across the UAE during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Since its inception in 2021, the 'Iftar on Wheels' program has significantly impacted communities, distributing nearly 1.4 million meals and over 230,000 kilograms of essential food supplies. Amazon utilizes its extensive fulfillment operations, advanced technology, and logistics network to ensure the timely and safe distribution of meals to those in need.
Over the past four years, the program has reached more than 37,000 beneficiaries. A key factor in its success is the commitment of Amazon employees, who volunteer thousands of hours annually to pack and distribute meals. The 2025 edition has expanded further, welcoming employees from various Amazon business units to participate in the initiative.
Commitment to Fighting Hunger
Manal Obaid Bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team of the UAE Food Bank Foundation, highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing food insecurity. “At the UAE Food Bank, we believe strong partnerships are crucial in achieving a hunger-free future. Our collaboration with Amazon UAE allows us to maximize our impact, ensure efficient food distribution, and promote awareness on reducing food waste,” she stated.
Stefano Martinelli, Vice President of Amazon Middle East and North Africa, reiterated Amazon’s dedication to social responsibility. “As the UAE marks the ‘Year of Community,’ we continue to leverage our innovation, technology, and people to benefit local communities. Ramadan is a special time of the year, and we are honored to contribute to the well-being of thousands of families through our partnership with the UAE Food Bank,” he said.
Volunteer Engagement and Social Impact
The program has fostered a strong sense of community among Amazon employees. Abeer Mohamed, Human Resources Specialist at Amazon UAE, shared her personal experience: “Volunteering for ‘Iftar on Wheels’ is a priority for me as it aligns with my values of generosity and solidarity, deeply rooted in Emirati culture. It is rewarding to work for a company that values community service and giving back.”
Amazon’s ‘Iftar on Wheels’ initiative is part of the company’s broader efforts to address food insecurity in the regions where it operates. By harnessing its scale, operational expertise, and resources, Amazon continues to support vital community programs aimed at expanding access to food for those in need.
