The launch of the Dubai-it Award marks a significant shift in how success is measured across Dubai's real estate sector, placing greater emphasis on execution, timely delivery, and long-term impact rather than ambitious announcements alone, according to Badar Rashid AlBlooshi, Chairman of Arabian Gulf Properties.

In an opinion piece, AlBlooshi said the concept of "Dubai-it" reflects a defining characteristic of Dubai's development model, where success is measured by the ability to transform vision into tangible results through efficient execution and disciplined delivery.

"Dubai-it is more than an inspiring phrase. It reflects a way of working that has become part of Dubai's economic, urban and institutional identity," he said.

According to AlBlooshi, the newly launched award sends an important message to all sectors, particularly real estate, that lasting value lies not only in innovative concepts but also in delivering projects on time, maintaining quality standards, and generating meaningful impact for the city and its residents.

He noted that Dubai's real estate industry has always been closely aligned with the emirate's broader urban development strategy rather than functioning solely as a construction or investment sector.

"A successful project in Dubai is not judged only by the number of units, the height of a tower, or the luxury of its amenities. It is judged by the value it adds to the city, whether it improves quality of life, creates vibrant destinations, supports economic activity, meets genuine market needs, and is delivered with quality and on schedule," AlBlooshi said.

He described the inclusion of a dedicated real estate category within the Dubai-it Award as recognition that the sector serves as an instrument for creating economic, social, and urban value rather than merely generating financial returns.

AlBlooshi highlighted Dubai's ability to consistently narrow the gap between project announcements and actual delivery, describing this capability as one of the emirate's strongest competitive advantages compared to many international markets.

He attributed this success to an integrated ecosystem supported by effective governance, advanced infrastructure, regulatory efficiency, public-private collaboration, and a culture focused on performance and accountability.

The chairman also urged developers to rethink their priorities, questioning whether projects are simply entering the market or genuinely contributing to Dubai's long-term development.

"There is a big difference between a project that occupies land and one that creates urban, economic and social value," he said.

He added that future market leaders will not necessarily be those delivering the highest number of developments but those producing projects that better address market needs while aligning with Dubai's strategic vision.

AlBlooshi said the industry's priorities are evolving from promotional success to measurable impact, where project execution, transparency, and investor confidence are becoming the primary indicators of quality.

He observed that Dubai's real estate sector has entered a more mature phase, where attractive project concepts alone are no longer sufficient.

"Projects must demonstrate strong execution, clear value propositions, and fulfil the promises made to investors and end users," he said.

According to AlBlooshi, the Dubai-it Award represents more than industry recognition. It serves as a call for developers, entrepreneurs, and institutions to evaluate the real impact of their work by prioritising delivery, measurable outcomes, and sustainable value creation over ambitious intentions.

Concluding his remarks, he said Dubai's continued growth offers an important lesson for businesses and developers.

"Cities do not advance on ideas alone, but through the people who have the courage, discipline and capability to turn those ideas into reality. In real estate especially, the most valuable projects will always be those that do not simply get built, but are delivered the Dubai way—with quality, distinction and timing that makes a difference."
