Dubai Honours Al Safeer Congress Ambassadors for Boosting Business Events Sector

Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has recognised more than 47 members of the Al Safeer Congress Ambassador Programme for their role in attracting international and regional conferences, congresses, and meetings to the emirate, further reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global hub for business events and knowledge exchange.

The annual gala ceremony, organised by Dubai Business Events (DBE), the city’s official convention bureau and part of DET, was held at The Lana, Dorchester Collection and brought together ambassadors, industry stakeholders, and professionals from a range of sectors.

The awards honoured ambassadors across four categories: Dubai Association Centre, Homegrown Events, Regional Events, and International Events. The recognised members represented industries including healthcare, technology, academia, engineering, business, and government.

According to DET, the Al Safeer Congress Ambassador Programme continues to support Dubai’s economic diversification strategy and aligns with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 by attracting knowledge-driven events that contribute to innovation and long-term growth.

Strong Growth in Dubai’s Business Events Sector

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, part of DET, said the ambassadors have played a vital role in strengthening Dubai’s position as a leading destination for business events.

He noted that through their expertise, industry connections, and commitment, the ambassadors help bring events to Dubai that encourage knowledge exchange, sector development, and sustainable economic growth.

The Al Safeer Congress Ambassador Programme, launched in 2010, has expanded to include more than 350 members and has helped secure numerous high-profile global events for Dubai over the years.

In 2025, Dubai Business Events submitted 747 bids for international events and secured 504 successful wins scheduled through 2029, reflecting a 15 per cent increase in bid wins compared to 2024. These events are expected to attract more than 272,000 delegates, marking a 29 per cent year-on-year increase in delegate numbers.

Dubai also hosted 481 business events during the year, highlighting the emirate’s growing influence in the global MICE industry — meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.

The ceremony also featured entertainment performances by comedian Mina Liccione and musical artist Abdulla Al Shamsi.

DET said the programme will continue to serve as a key platform for advancing collaboration, innovation, and excellence across Dubai’s business events landscape.
