Dubai Culture and DHA Launch ‘Art for Good – Health Sector’ Initiative to Enhance Patient Well-Being

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has announced that the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has joined the “Art for Good – Health Sector” initiative, an innovative programme designed to integrate arts and creativity into healthcare environments across the emirate.

The initiative aims to introduce artistic and creative elements within hospitals and medical facilities, creating therapeutic spaces that support mental well-being, reduce stress for patients and their families, and enhance the working environment for healthcare professionals.

Launched in Dubai on March 9, 2026, the programme aligns with the emirate’s broader Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, which seeks to enhance the overall well-being of residents while reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading global destination to live, work and visit.

Hospitals and artists collaborate in first phase

As part of the first phase of the initiative, a group of hospitals across Dubai has committed to supporting the programme by collaborating with artists, creatives and community members to implement art-inspired projects within healthcare facilities.

The initiative will initially involve 10 private hospitals, where participants will create artworks and cultural programmes inspired by local heritage and national identity. These projects aim to foster creativity, promote social cohesion and contribute to the recovery process for patients.

Hospitals participating in the programme will also help evaluate and develop future initiatives that promote artistic awareness among different segments of society.

Partnership formalised during global health conference

The collaboration between Dubai Culture and DHA was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, and Alawi Al Sheikh Ali, Director General of DHA.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the World Health Conference and aims to explore innovative ways of integrating art and creativity into healthcare services across Dubai.

The partnership also focuses on developing platforms and programmes that allow artists and community members to actively participate in healthcare-related initiatives.

Art as a therapeutic tool

Badri emphasised the importance of investing in people’s well-being and improving quality of life through cultural initiatives.

“Art is a unique language for expressing emotions and an effective therapeutic tool that instils hope in patients and encourages communication and cultural engagement,” she said.

She added that the initiative reflects Dubai Culture’s commitment to integrating art into public spaces and transforming healthcare facilities into inspiring environments that help alleviate stress for patients, their families and medical staff.

Supporting holistic healthcare

Al Sheikh Ali said the programme reflects Dubai’s vision of building a balanced and prosperous society by prioritising the health and well-being of residents.

“The ‘Art for Good – Health Sector’ initiative represents a strategic step in integrating arts into the healthcare and treatment system,” he said.

He added that the initiative demonstrates a commitment to providing innovative healthcare services in therapeutic environments that address the emotional and psychological needs of patients while supporting faster recovery.

The programme is expected to strengthen collaboration between healthcare institutions, artists and the community, while highlighting the role of creativity in improving patient care and enhancing the overall healthcare experience in Dubai.
