Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence Hosts ‘AI Economy for Media Professionals’ and Launches New Media Award
The Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI), an initiative overseen by the Dubai Future Foundation, has organised the ‘AI Economy for Media Professionals 2026’ event in collaboration with Dubai Media Academy, part of Dubai Media Incorporated, as its strategic partner.
The event brought together media professionals, journalists, decision-makers, and specialists in artificial intelligence and digital media to explore how AI is reshaping the media landscape and creating new opportunities for content creation, storytelling, and economic understanding.
A major highlight of the event was the announcement of the ‘AI Economy Media Award’, a new initiative designed to recognise world-class media content focused on the economic impact of artificial intelligence in Dubai.
The specialised forum examined the future of media amid the rapid evolution of AI technologies and discussed the broader economic and strategic implications for media organisations, professional roles, and the skills needed to remain competitive in an increasingly digital environment.
The discussions also reinforced DCAI’s role as a dedicated Government of Dubai entity working to accelerate AI adoption and maximise its impact across government services, businesses, and the wider community.
Speaking during the event, Saeed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, said the initiative reflects the Centre’s commitment to empowering media professionals with the knowledge required to report effectively on the AI economy while adopting advanced technologies to elevate content creation.
He noted that DCAI’s broader mission is to ensure that advancements in artificial intelligence ultimately improve the quality of life for Dubai’s residents and enhance government services, while media remains an essential partner in communicating and extending that vision.
Meanwhile, Muna Bu Samra, Director of Dubai Media Academy, emphasised the importance of strategic partnerships in preparing the media industry for future challenges and opportunities.
She stated that effective collaboration between media and technology sectors helps provide national talent with the tools and expertise required to adapt to digital transformation while promoting the responsible and efficient use of AI technologies.
According to Bu Samra, the partnership aligns with Dubai Media Academy’s objective of encouraging innovative media content that reflects Dubai’s future ambitions and keeps pace with global developments.
The programme featured a series of expert-led sessions focused on AI applications in media, digital transformation, and workforce evolution.
Participants were introduced to several of DCAI’s major economic initiatives, including:
- AI Government Use Cases Bank
- AI Baseline economic study
- Dubai AI Seal
- New workforce and demographic impact research related to AI in Dubai
Sessions also explored practical AI tools designed to help media professionals refine workflows, strengthen storytelling capabilities, and accelerate content production.
The launch of the AI Economy Media Award represents a significant step toward encouraging more specialised reporting and increasing public understanding of the economic opportunities and societal impact generated by artificial intelligence.
The event marks another milestone in the collaboration between Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Dubai Media Academy to strengthen media capabilities, expand awareness of the AI economy, and support the creation of innovative and professional content aligned with the UAE’s long-term vision.
By advancing dialogue around AI and media innovation, Dubai continues reinforcing its position as one of the world’s leading future-ready cities.
