Chery Group and OMODA&JAECOO champion nature-based solutions at IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi
Chery Group and its premium automotive brand OMODA&JAECOO reaffirmed their commitment to global sustainability and ecological responsibility at the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025, held in Abu Dhabi.
As an official sponsor of the event, Chery Group underscored its dedication to Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) as part of its strategy to align industrial growth with environmental preservation. The company’s participation reflected its long-term vision of integrating innovation, technology, and sustainability to promote harmony between business and nature.
Representing Chery Group, Will Li, Executive Vice President of one of the company’s UAE subsidiaries, delivered a keynote speech during the panel discussion “Accelerating NbS Globally: The IUCN–Chery Partnership for People and Planet.” Li emphasized Chery’s guiding philosophy — “In Somewhere, For Somewhere, Be Somewhere” — reflecting the company’s belief in creating local value and lasting community impact through responsible global engagement.
Li highlighted Chery Group’s remarkable achievement in 2025, advancing 152 positions on the Fortune Global 500 list to rank 233rd, attributing the milestone to the company’s focus on sustainable innovation. “Our success as a business is tied directly to how well we protect our shared home,” he said. “We believe that true innovation combines technology, responsibility, and care for the planet.”
Expanding global conservation initiatives
Chery Group’s partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has resulted in the “Cherish the Nature” Global Partnership Program, launched in 2024. The initiative aims to conserve, restore, and sustainably manage over 10 million hectares of critical ecosystems worldwide by integrating NbS strategies that link environmental protection with long-term economic and social development.
Among the flagship projects is a seagrass restoration initiative in Andalusia, Spain, where Chery and IUCN are working to protect Posidonia seagrass meadows threatened by climate change, tourism, and marine activities.
Li noted that OMODA&JAECOO actively participate in these conservation efforts, collaborating with IUCN experts on-site to implement NbS practices. “The future of mobility must evolve in harmony with nature,” he said. “We are not only designing intelligent vehicles — we are designing a sustainable future.”
Sustainable innovation and intelligent mobility
Chery’s sustainability vision extends into product innovation. Earlier this month, OMODA&JAECOO launched the JAECOO J7 SHS (Super Hybrid System) in the UAE — a breakthrough in energy-efficient mobility, combining fuel-electric synergy with advanced smart technologies for improved sustainability and performance.
Li also announced the upcoming OMODA C7, set to launch in January 2026, further strengthening the brand’s portfolio of intelligent, eco-friendly vehicles.
OMODA&JAECOO’s broader innovation ecosystem includes the AiMOGA intelligent robot, representing the company’s commitment to human-centric AI development. The brand will also host the International User Summit 2025 in China, gathering users, partners, and enthusiasts to shape the future of sustainable and intelligent mobility.
Triple-bottom-line approach to sustainability
Chery Group’s environmental framework is guided by a triple-bottom-line approach, ensuring that every project delivers measurable ecological, economic, and social benefits.
“Every conservation project we support must protect nature, empower people, and build resilient communities,” Li said. “This is how we transform conservation from aid into shared value creation.”
Through its partnership with IUCN, Chery now supports five major marine and water resource protection projects globally. The company aims to go beyond financial sponsorship by acting as a strategic co-creator, leveraging technology, innovation, and collaboration to build long-term, scalable ecological solutions.
Concluding his address, Li said, “The true value of a company lies not just in the products it makes, but in the responsibility it carries for the planet’s future.”
