Book Review - Sunshine Soup
By Cathy L Powell

Being an expatriate myself, when I became aware of the launch of this publication, I was really interested in reading it. That the author is from England, and has actually had many expatriate experiences including living in Dubai, I believed it would be an excellent read. I most definitely was not disappointed.

The book had me hooked from the very first web page. I had difficulty putting it down. The book opens with Maya getting ready for her transfer to Dubai with her partner that is a pilot and has actually occupied a position based in the Middle East. Maya has been running a coffee bar with 2 buddies, a job that she takes pleasure in a great deal and will certainly miss out on: not only the stimulation given by the job yet also the females who she is close to. When she shows up in Dubai it comes as something of a shock to find that her ticket has a visa in it mentioning that she could not work. She is shattered at this and questions exactly what she will certainly have the ability to finish with her time. One thing that she does is produce a blog site of her culinary experiences and links it back to her close friends and their coffee shop back residence in England.

Jo Parfitt brings Dubai to life in this publication. I enjoyed all the ladies personalities that she created in the book, each with her own interesting story. I suched as the fact that several citizenships were stood for by the females in guide. What I also suched as regarding guide is that, even if the sun shines, does not indicate that life is all rosy and uplifting. Occasions occur and points can go wrong. Not one of the characters is burning out. Their lives are elaborately explained. I suched as the fact that Maya did not simply approve that she might not work. She had to discover a way to be active in the new community in which she locates herself.

The food of Dubai is also given birth to in the web pages of this page. I located myself yearning days after completing. Also better is the fact that many of the recipes are included at the rear of guide.

I would extremely advise this book to anybody that has actually experienced expatriate life, whether in an exotic location or not. I do really hope that the author will certainly be creating one more imaginary work, as she is best understood for her non-fiction books.
