Ben Sulayem Reaffirms Commitment to Transforming FIA into a Modern, Accessible, and Connected Organisation
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has reaffirmed his dedication to transforming the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) into a modern, accessible, and globally connected organisation. The statement comes ahead of the FIA Region I Spring Meeting in Marrakech, where leaders from the motorsport and mobility sectors across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will gather for a three-day series of high-level discussions.
The event, hosted by Mobilité Club Maroc, will bring together key stakeholders to deliberate on strategic priorities such as road safety, sustainable mobility, regional sporting development, and transport innovation. The conference will also feature crucial leadership votes and collaborative sessions aimed at enhancing the FIA’s impact through shared knowledge and best practices.
Ben Sulayem remarked on the importance of such gatherings, stating: “As a global federation, it is not often that we are able to unite our community in one place, so moments like this are particularly special. The next few days will provide an invaluable opportunity for engagement and participation.”
The agenda includes workshops designed to equip FIA Member Clubs with new strategies to navigate evolving trends in mobility and motorsport. Topics such as service innovation, consumer-centric solutions, and sustainability will take center stage, further aligning with the FIA's evolving mission.
Reflecting on his first term, Ben Sulayem highlighted the tangible progress achieved under his leadership: “Our Members are fundamental to the success of the FIA. I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made together and the successes we have achieved.” He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to expanding grassroots participation in motorsport through inclusive initiatives such as the Affordable Cross Car programme and the Global Karting Plan.
With a long-term vision, the FIA aims to double motorsport participation worldwide while enhancing the integration of sport and mobility. The FIA’s structural backbone lies in its Member Clubs, which hold voting rights and play dual roles in mobility services and motorsport governance. Mobility Clubs advocate for road safety, sustainable transport, and consumer rights, while National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) oversee motorsport development at the national level.
FIA Region I includes 101 Mobility Member Clubs from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, collectively representing over 41 million members. The Spring Meeting represents a pivotal platform for collaboration, shaping the future of mobility and motorsport governance across continents.
