Arab womens poetic talents light up El Beit as Episode 8 crowns the 1st female winner

Episode 8 of El Beits second season aired at 9pm on Monday, December 29, and for the first time a female poet was judged to have the best chater after mesmerizing the audience with her poetic skills.

Mr Majid Abdul Rahman Al Bastaki, the shows General Coordinator said: Female poets have played a vital role in the evolution of Nabati poetry, and this is evident in the massive numbers of ladies from the Gulf and beyond who submit verses on our show. Today is a historic moment as women are getting their deserved recognition through our female winner.

This week the winner selected by the judges on the Golden Screen is Hamoud Khalfan Al Yahyai from Oman, who won AED 100,000. Having demonstrated a masterful command of the vocabulary and rhythms of Nabati poetry, Al Yahyai qualified for the Grand Finale episode and stands to win AED 1 million.
This weeks competition featured for the first time a female winner, Bashayer Al Muqbel, who qualified for the Grand Finale episode and an opportunity to win AED 1 million. The judges were highly impressed by the rhythmical resonance and vibrant imagery in her poem.
Judges Mohammed Al Murr and Awadh Al Darmaki explained: With every week that passes, we are seeing an increase not only in the quantity but also quality of entries. We sincerely hope this poetic awakening continues within our young generation.

The co-host for El Beits second season, Emirati poet Ahmed Al Bidwawi, introduced this weeks guest - the patriotic poet Ali Al Khawar - who recited poetry that he wrote as a gift to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Renowned Kuwaiti poet Saad Bin Hindi then expressed his delight by reciting verses of poetry written as a gift from Kuwait to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Media delegations from Kuwaiti TV and Radio stations visited the show and were honored to be taken on an official tour behind the scenes at the studio, where they also met the verses panel of judges.

The judging panels consist of renowned pioneers of contemporary poetry in the UAE and the Gulf. Division Panel: Mutalq bin Shuwyeh, Saudi Arabia; Mohammed Al Khalaf, Bahrain; Jamal Al Shaqsi, UAE; Hadi Al Hajri, UAE; Nasser Al Hajri, Kuwait; Mueeth Al Otaibi, Saudi Arabia.

The show is hosted by Barakat Al Wagyan and the co-host for the second season is Emirati poet Ahmed Al Bidwawi. Joining the co-hosts is Omani poet Hilala Al Hamdani.
The widely acclaimed show is organized and produced by Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, and filming takes place in Dubai Studio City.
