Al Sharqi Shipping opens AED 70 million logistics hub at Dubai Industrial City
UAE-based logistics provider Al Sharqi Shipping has inaugurated a new AED 70 million integrated logistics and distribution hub at Dubai Industrial City, expanding its temperature-controlled storage and regional distribution capabilities.
The facility, part of TECOM Group PJSC’s Dubai Industrial City, is designed to serve businesses across food and beverage, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), retail, hotels, restaurants and cafés (HoReCa), quick-commerce and manufacturing.
The investment is expected to create 500 jobs and support domestic demand while strengthening supply chain connections across the region.
Multi-temperature storage and high-volume handling
The new hub features 280,000 square feet of built-up storage space, 200,000 square feet of open yard space, 30,000 square feet of office space and a 40,000-square-foot basement.
It offers 22,000 palletised tonnes of multi-temperature-controlled storage, with conditions ranging from ambient temperatures to minus 18°C, allowing businesses to store and distribute products with different temperature requirements.
The facility also has 38 inbound and outbound loading lanes and can handle up to 178 trucks per day, supporting high-volume logistics and rapid order fulfilment.
Following the opening, Al Sharqi Shipping’s combined capacity is expected to reach 37,800 pallet positions, according to the company.
Dubai Industrial City supports logistics expansion
Saud Abu Alshawareb, Executive Vice President – Industrial at TECOM Group, said the facility reflected Dubai Industrial City’s role in supporting manufacturing and logistics businesses.
He highlighted the district’s industrial infrastructure and connectivity to major transport routes and markets as factors supporting companies seeking to expand their distribution networks and customer base.
Alshawareb said the investment aligned with the objectives of the UAE’s Operation 300bn industrial strategy, the National Food Security Strategy 2051 and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
Dubai Industrial City provides infrastructure for businesses operating across sectors including base metals, machinery, minerals, food and beverage, transport and chemicals.
Al Sharqi Shipping targets regional growth
Asif Rafiq, Chief Operating Officer of Al Sharqi Shipping, said the new facility would support the company’s expansion in multi-temperature-controlled logistics, regional distribution and integrated supply chain services.
He described Dubai Industrial City as a location offering the scale, connectivity and industrial ecosystem needed to expand the company’s operations and serve customers across the UAE and wider region.
The new hub is intended to provide a long-term platform for the company as it develops its logistics capabilities and responds to demand from businesses requiring temperature-controlled storage and distribution services.
Strategic location strengthens supply chain links
Established in 2004, Dubai Industrial City is located near Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport. It is also home to an Etihad Rail freight terminal, providing businesses with access to sea, air and rail freight infrastructure.
The district forms part of TECOM Group’s portfolio of business communities, which includes Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Production City, Dubai Studio City, Dubai Knowledge Park, Dubai International Academic City, Dubai Science Park and Dubai Design District.
The new investment adds capacity to Dubai’s logistics infrastructure at a time when businesses across food, retail and manufacturing rely on storage, distribution and supply chain services to reach domestic and regional markets.
