Türkiye Citizenship by Investment: Four Routes Compared, Starting at $400,000
Investors seeking Turkish citizenship through investment can choose from four routes, with minimum investment thresholds ranging from $400,000 to $500,000 and a minimum three-year holding period, according to a comparison published by Dubai-based citizenship and residency advisory firm UNO Capital.
The overview outlines the main investment options, their requirements and the factors investors should consider before selecting a route. The figures reflect published minimum thresholds as of October 2026 and may change.
Four Investment Routes to Turkish Citizenship
Türkiye offers four investment options under its citizenship-by-investment programme:
-
Real estate: Investment of at least $400,000 in qualifying property in Türkiye.
-
Investment funds: Investment of at least $500,000 in eligible real estate or venture capital investment funds.
-
Bank deposit: A deposit of at least $500,000 with a bank operating in Türkiye.
-
Government bonds: Investment of at least $500,000 in bonds issued by the Turkish government.
The applicable investment amounts must be processed through the Turkish banking system and converted into Turkish lira in accordance with relevant regulations. The final amounts are therefore subject to prevailing currency conversion rates.
How the Investment Options Differ
Each route has specific conditions governing the asset, its eligibility and the required holding period.
Under the real estate route, the property must undergo a licensed appraisal, and a restriction on its sale is recorded on the title deed.
For the investment fund route, only funds approved by Türkiye’s Capital Markets Board qualify under the programme.
The bank deposit route requires investors to maintain the qualifying deposit with a Turkish bank for three years. Similarly, investors choosing government bonds must hold eligible Turkish government-issued bonds for the required three-year period.
Investors Advised to Consider More Than the Minimum Amount
Sebastian Michael, Director at UNO Capital, said investors should assess the nature of the investment and the holding period alongside the minimum financial threshold.
“Thresholds of USD 400,000 to USD 500,000 are only the starting point. Investors should also consider the asset type and how the three-year holding period fits their objectives,” Michael said.
The choice of route may therefore depend on an investor’s preferred asset class and financial objectives, as well as the conditions attached to the investment.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
All four routes are subject to background and security checks, with final approval resting with the relevant Turkish authorities.
Eligible applicants may generally include their spouse and children under the age of 18.
UNO Capital said investors and families can register their interest with the firm to obtain further information about Türkiye’s citizenship-by-investment programme and the available routes.
