Al Khayyat Investments signs MoUs with China’s Cainiao and BioBAY to boost bilateral cooperation

Al Khayyat Investments (AKI) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and advancing sustainable trade and investment between the United Arab Emirates and the People’s Republic of China.

The signing took place in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, and His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade.

Zaid S. Al Khayyat, Managing Director of Al Khayyat Investments, signed the agreements with Cainiao, an Alibaba company, to enhance collaboration in logistics and technology, and with BioBAY, focusing on innovation and development within the life sciences sector.

The MoUs were formalised during AKI’s participation in the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, held as part of the China–UAE Economic & Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference, where the UAE was the Guest of Honour.

Strengthening UAE–China economic ties

The partnerships highlight the expanding cooperation between the UAE and China across high-growth sectors. His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said the agreements underscore the dynamic and evolving economic relationship between the two nations.

“The UAE and China are two nations that believe in the importance of trade to economic growth and development, and we continue to pursue opportunities in each other’s markets. These MoUs represent the latest steps towards cementing the trade and investment ties between our two private sectors in vital, high-growth industries,” he stated.

Zaid S. Al Khayyat, Managing Director of AKI, emphasised the significance of the collaborations for the company’s regional strategy.
“Our partnerships with Cainiao and BioBAY reflect AKI’s continued expansion and our deepening engagement with China. The UAE and China share a common vision for innovation-driven, sustainable development, and through these agreements, we look forward to unlocking new opportunities in logistics, technology, life sciences and more,” he said.

The agreements mark an important milestone for AKI’s international growth and reinforce the shared commitment of both countries to drive innovation, strengthen strategic industries, and enhance economic resilience.
