Al Futtaim Education Signs MoU with Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education to Foster Academic Cooperation

Al Futtaim Education Foundation (AFEF) has strengthened its ties with China by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education to promote international academic cooperation. The agreement follows a visit by AFEF to Hangzhou No. 2 Middle School in April, and it aims to enhance educational exchanges between the UAE and China.

The MoU was signed during a visit by a Zhejiang Provincial Government delegation, led by Shu Peidong, Deputy Director General of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education. AFEF dignitaries, including Omar Abdullah Al Futtaim, Vice Chairman and CEO of Al Futtaim Group, and Mira Omar Al Futtaim, Chief Future of Education Officer, welcomed the delegation at Deira International School in Dubai.

The agreement seeks to facilitate teacher training, student exchange programs, and strategic campus visits. It leverages the academic capabilities of institutions such as Hangzhou No. 2 High School, Chinese School Dubai, Universal American School, and Deira International School, with a focus on areas such as technical skills, artificial intelligence, and technology.

Mira Omar Al Futtaim emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with Hangzhou No. 2 High School presents a unique opportunity to tap into the expertise of China’s education system, enriching our practices and offering innovative methodologies. This aligns with the UAE’s goals of strengthening international relations, particularly with China, and advancing education and innovation.”

The Zhejiang delegation expressed confidence in the collaboration, with Shu Peidong praising Deira International School for its forward-thinking approach. He emphasized that the partnership would drive mutual progress and growth between the involved institutions.

The visit included a tour of Deira International School, roundtable discussions, and exchanges on best practices in school management and operations. Both parties are optimistic that this MoU marks the beginning of a long-term and fruitful collaboration.
