2021 Healthy Children Campaign Educates about Health Lifestyles

The 2021 Healthy Children campaign under the umbrella of the National Program for Government Communication (NPGC) has been launched to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles of Emirati children and ensure a better healthy life for generations to come. This will eventually position the UAE as one of the best countries worldwide in terms of healthcare services and thus achieving the UAE Vision 2021.

2021 Healthy Children, is one of the seven pillars of the National Program for Government Communication (NPGC) announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, during a cabinet meeting held on Sunday.
The campaign includes a dedicated team comprising federal and local government entities chaired by the Ministry of Health. It also includes members representing Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Affairs, the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare, Dubai Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Health Authority as well as the overall supervision and coordination of the Government Communication Office of the General Secretariat of the Cabinet.
Launching the campaign, His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Owais, Minister of Health, said the Ministry has been developing a number of plans and programs within the framework of the NPGC, including adopting policies to provide healthcare for children in the UAE and launch awareness campaigns to educate the community about healthy lifestyles. These will continue until March.

H.E. Al Owais added the health sector has benefited from the keen interest shown by the UAE leadership in the health of citizens, especially children. The leadership has focused on advanced healthcare systems ensure the availability of inclusive and effective health service of the highest standards to all individuals, H.E. Al Owais added.
The Minister said the 2021 Healthy Children campaign is in line with national efforts to implement the National Agenda, particularly in relation to the efforts to reduce obesity levels in children by 17 per cent to 12 per cent as guided by the National Agenda.

H.E. Al Owais said the campaign would be driven by a specialized team that includes a number of federal and local government entities and the private sector, which will function in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Cabinet to achieve the National Agenda indicators on health. The campaign is an important awareness tool to realize the NPGCs goals by focusing on the knowledge, attitudes and practices of the child.
The 2021 Healthy Children campaign, aims at supporting the goals of NPGC, and plays an active role in positively transforming the lifestyles of individuals and communities through more effective communication. It will support the federal government strategy and the National Agenda, focusing on core issues that affect the lives of citizens and their future as well as the future generations, especially in the health sector.

The National Program for Government Communication includes seven pillars: Healthy Children, Cohesive Family, Quality Education, Green Ideas, Sustainable Food, Prosperous Future, and Diabetes-free UAE. The teams under the program will develop a nation-wide communication plan for each pillar to utilize all possible channels of innovative and effective communication. They will also coordinate roles and functions of government entities and private sectors and the civil society, and partner with international organizations and programs specialized in these areas.
