UAE Introduces New Polymer Dh100 Banknote with Advanced Features
The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has introduced a new polymer Dh100 banknote, which will be in circulation alongside the existing notes starting today. The updated currency features innovative security elements, sustainability-focused materials, and a design that reflects the UAE’s cultural and economic progress.

Part of a Larger Currency Upgrade
The Dh100 banknote is part of the CBUAE’s Third Issuance of the National Currency Project, aimed at modernizing the UAE’s monetary system while preserving its cultural essence. The country has received global recognition for its currency innovations, winning the ‘Best New Banknote’ award at the 2023 and 2025 High-Security Printing EMEA conference for the Dh500 and Dh1,000 polymer banknotes.
Circulation and Availability
The new Dh100 note will be available at banks and exchange houses starting today. Financial institutions have been directed to update cash deposit machines and counting devices to accommodate the new polymer note seamlessly.
Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, emphasized that the banknote reflects the nation’s commitment to sustainability, financial security, and future growth. He also highlighted that the launch coincides with the Eid Al Fitr celebrations, symbolizing progress and national pride.
