Sharjah Offers Cancellation of 10-Year-Old Traffic Violations for a Fee, with Exemptions
In a move aimed at easing the burden on vehicle owners, authorities in Sharjah have announced that traffic violations recorded 10 years ago or more can now be cancelled upon payment of a Dh1,000 fee. The announcement was made during a recent Executive Council meeting at the Ruler’s office.
The decision applies to violations dated 10 years prior to the issuance date, providing relief to residents with long-standing penalties. However, the Sharjah Executive Council has clarified that certain cases are exempt from the fee.
Exemption Criteria:
-
Proof of the death of the vehicle owner.
-
Proof that the vehicle owner has left the country for no less than 10 consecutive years.
-
Vehicles abandoned by their owners, where the owner cannot be located or contacted.
The initiative reflects Sharjah’s commitment to providing flexible solutions for residents while maintaining traffic regulation enforcement.
The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, alongside Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.
Residents seeking to benefit from this decision are advised to contact the appropriate authorities to determine their eligibility and complete the required procedures.
