Rachmaninoff & Muse: UAE Philharmonic Announces Season Finale

After its rapid ascent nationally and internationally, the UAE Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to announce the grand finale of its inaugural season. Scheduled for May 24 at the Theatre of Digital Art (ToDA) in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, the concert is set to be a spectacular finale before the long summer break.

UAE Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of chief conductor Nicholas Mann, and BACKART Production present a full symphonic orchestra representing more than 17 nationalities around one of Rachmaninoff's great concertos, performed by an international soloist of note. Special guest stars will also perform, adding an extra level of dynamism to the celebration of Rachmaninoff's musical legacy.

What sets this finale apart is its crossover concept. Along with Rachmaninoff's iconic creations, the program will also feature popular pop songs from well-known artists such as Céline Dion, Muse, etc.-musicians who drew inspiration from the Russian composer or whose melody was utilized in their hits. A bold mix of classical and contemporary, it intends to appeal to the widest range of audiences by creating an exciting, involved musical experience.

The concert caps off what has been an extraordinary first season for the UAE Philharmonic. Just starting in September 2024, the orchestra debuted with Baroque & Beyond, a stunning immersion-based performance of works by Vivaldi and Bach at ToDA. It has since continued with Classical & Beyond, Romantic & Beyond, and Modern & Beyond, each featuring a different music era with the addition of traditional and modern innovative boundary-pushing—that is, how one experiences classical music.

Truly, within one season, the orchestra has made its case as a cultural pillar in the region. Highlights include a landmark performance with Il Volo at the Dubai Opera Hall and then the high-profile collaboration with Bollywood icon Shreya Ghoshal. Earlier this year, the orchestra was also honored to close the major Sikka Festival set up by Dubai Culture, proving its status very much in the colorful artistic landscape that is the UAE.

The UAE Philharmonic Orchestra is slowly becoming a central figure in the global classical music community while redefining the classical concert experience in the Middle East.
