‘Please, AI’: UAE Residents Crowned the World’s Most Polite to Artificial Intelligence

If AI could blush, it might be doing so in the UAE. A new YouGov survey reveals that 55.5% of UAE residents regularly say “please” or “thank you” when talking to artificial intelligence — the highest level of AI politeness in the world.

Women in the UAE appear to lead the charm offensive, with 58.9% adding courteous phrases, compared to 54.1% of men. Globally, only Mexico (54.1%) and India (50.2%) come close to the UAE’s level of digital decorum.

Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, says AI is already everywhere in daily life — from search engines like Google to social platforms like YouTube and Facebook. “Those who are left behind are going to be at a loss,” he warned, encouraging residents to embrace AI tools to improve their skills.

Even OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has noticed the global politeness trend, joking earlier this year about how much electricity has been spent on users typing “please” and “thank you” into AI prompts.

At the other end of the courtesy spectrum, Denmark (31.1%), the US (32.3%), and Sweden (33.2%) rank as the least polite to AI.
