Eid Al Adha 2025: Rain Brings Respite from Heat as UAE Residents Celebrate Holiday
As residents across the UAE mark the beginning of Eid Al Adha, some parts of the country experienced unexpected rainfall on Friday, offering a much-needed break from the intensifying summer heat.
According to videos shared by Storm Centre on social media, areas like Khor Fakkan witnessed light showers, with clips showing raindrops on windshields and misty skies as dark clouds hovered overhead. The rainfall, although brief, was a welcome change for residents grappling with rising humidity and temperatures.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had earlier forecasted the possibility of rain in select areas over the Eid weekend. The prediction proved accurate, with showers recorded in parts of the northern and eastern regions of the country.
In addition to the rainfall, the NCM also reported a notable drop in temperature. The lowest recorded temperature on Friday was 16.6°C at 5:45 AM, offering a brief yet refreshing pause from the seasonal highs.
The summer solstice, expected on June 21, is typically one of the hottest periods in the UAE. As such, the rain came as a timely gift for families and worshippers celebrating Eid, who were otherwise bracing for scorching weather.
Authorities continue to advise residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and monitor official updates for changing weather conditions throughout the holiday weekend.
