Dubai to Build Three Hospitals and 33 Health Centres by 2033 Under Sheikh Hamdan’s Approved Plan

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, has approved a comprehensive set of new policies and initiatives aimed at transforming healthcare, education, family welfare, and infrastructure across the emirate. A key highlight of this announcement is the construction of three new hospitals and 33 primary healthcare centres by 2033.

This major healthcare expansion plan, led by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. The initiative is designed to boost Dubai’s global ranking in health and wellbeing and ensure access to high-quality medical services across all residential areas.

Target Areas for Healthcare Expansion
The priority areas for new healthcare facilities include newly developed residential zones such as Al Yalayis, Al Awir, Hind City, Nad Al Sheba, Al Lisaili, and Lehbab. These facilities will be developed through public-private partnerships, with supportive incentive packages to attract both local and international healthcare investments.

In addition to infrastructure expansion, the strategy encompasses a comprehensive review of healthcare supply and demand, improved mental health and rehabilitative insurance coverage, and initiatives to attract medical talent. More scholarships for Emirati doctors are also part of the plan to support national medical education.

A Holistic Approach to Public Welfare
Speaking at the Executive Council meeting held at Emirates Towers, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai’s people-centric development philosophy. He noted that the newly approved policies are integral to creating a sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality future for all residents.

The approved measures also include:

  • Unified Centre for Family Care: Managed by the Community Development Authority, this centre will consolidate family counselling, child protection, custody management, and social guidance services under one roof. Two branches will be launched in Deira and Bur Dubai, supported by digital platforms.

  • Empowering Emirati Students in Private Education: Spearheaded by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), this initiative seeks to ensure 100% of Emirati students attend schools rated ‘Good’ or higher, with parental satisfaction levels exceeding 90%. The programme includes flexible learning models, curriculum enhancements, and an expanded Dubai Distinguished Students Programme (DDSP).

  • Smart Buildings Policy: Aimed at boosting urban sustainability, this policy promotes the integration of smart infrastructure in both new and existing buildings.

These initiatives collectively reflect Dubai’s vision of becoming a global leader in healthcare, education, and social wellbeing, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to its residents and future generations.
