Dubai launches ‘My School Food’ platform to upgrade student nutrition
Dubai Municipality has introduced the “My School Food” platform, a new digital system designed to enhance the quality of school meals and strengthen nutritional awareness among students. The initiative forms part of wider regulatory efforts to elevate food safety standards and modernise nutrition systems across educational institutions in the emirate. It also aims to boost the resilience of food supply chains through advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.
Announced during the 19th Dubai International Food Safety Conference, the platform will support more than 400,000 students across over 500 schools, nurseries, and universities in Dubai, as well as more than 50 approved school food suppliers.
A key feature of the platform is its AI-powered assistant, Ghalia, which offers students, parents, and suppliers instant information on food safety, balanced nutrition, and strategies to minimise food waste. The assistant operates using standards approved by Dubai Municipality, ensuring accurate, safe, and reliable guidance.
The initiative underscores Dubai’s commitment to building healthier school environments, bolstering food safety compliance, and promoting informed nutrition choices among children and young adults.
