10 AI Systems the UAE Is Rolling Out to Make Life Easier and Catch Violators
The United Arab Emirates continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in digital transformation, using artificial intelligence (AI) to simplify daily life, enhance public safety, and improve government efficiency. The country’s effective deployment of AI technologies has contributed to its high World Happiness Index ranking (21st globally), surpassing several developed nations including the UK and the US.
Here are ten cutting-edge AI systems currently being rolled out across the UAE:
1. AI-equipped vehicles to catch visa violators
Authorities are introducing a fleet of smart cars fitted with facial recognition systems that capture and process images in real time. These vehicles can identify wanted individuals instantly through AI-driven pattern matching and send alerts to relevant departments for rapid action.
2. Barrierless parking in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi’s Q Mobility has unveiled the Zero Barrier AI Parking system, which uses licence plate recognition, smart cameras, and automated payment technology to deliver a seamless, no-barrier parking experience.
3. Smarter cloud seeding
The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) is employing AI to assess cloud seedability in real time, improving the accuracy and efficiency of rain enhancement operations.
4. AI-powered ‘red carpet’ immigration at airports
At Dubai International Airport, travellers will soon pass through immigration without counters or passport scans. The AI-powered Smart Corridor uses facial recognition sensors to clear passengers within seconds—handling up to ten people simultaneously.
5. Intelligent traffic violation detection
Dubai Police has launched an AI-based Intelligent Traffic System that detects violations such as using mobile phones while driving, not wearing seatbelts, or obstructing traffic. The system analyses live footage in real time, ensuring enforcement without human intervention.
6. Reducing delivery bike accidents
An ongoing AI project aims to cut motorcycle accidents by 50%. It uses facial recognition and telematics to monitor rider behaviour, ensuring safe driving and compliance with delivery area limits. Currently, the system is in its pilot phase, covering 12,000 delivery bikes.
7. Smarter energy consumption tracking
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has updated its Smart Living Programme, allowing consumers to compare their energy and water usage with that of neighbours. The AI system provides personalised recommendations to help residents reduce consumption and save costs.
8. Predictive healthcare in Abu Dhabi
The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) is using AI to build patient risk profiles that can predict diseases such as diabetes and cancer before symptoms appear. The system analyses lifelong medical records to support early diagnosis and preventive care.
9. Automated work permit approvals
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has introduced Eye, an AI-powered system that automates the verification of documents—including passports and academic certificates—streamlining the work permit process and reducing administrative delays.
10. AI-driven leadership training
The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) has launched School 5.0, integrating AI into academic and administrative systems. The initiative equips future leaders with data-driven decision-making skills and enhances leadership education through intelligent tools.
With these initiatives, the UAE is setting new global benchmarks for AI adoption in governance, sustainability, and innovation—continuing its mission to create a safer, smarter, and more efficient society for residents and visitors alike.
