UAEV, a joint venture between the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) and Etihad Water and Electricity (Etihad WE), has announced a strategic partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) to install and operate electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the emirate. This initiative aligns with the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategy, aimed at advancing the nation’s sustainable mobility infrastructure and reducing carbon emissions.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, Board Member of UAEV, and H.E. Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA. This collaboration highlights both parties' commitment to supporting the country's green mobility transition and environmental sustainability.
Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This partnership will accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by providing advanced and accessible infrastructure, empowering customers to make eco-friendly choices." He added that the project is a crucial step towards reducing emissions from the transportation sector, fostering economic growth, and reinforcing the UAE's leadership in sustainable mobility.
H.E. Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi emphasized RAKTA’s dedication to promoting sustainable transportation as part of the emirate’s Green Mobility Strategy 2023-2040. The project aims to provide easily accessible EV charging stations throughout Ras Al Khaimah, facilitating the shift to electric vehicles and contributing to the UAE’s environmental goals.
Under the agreement, UAEV will oversee the installation, maintenance, and data management of the charging stations, while RAKTA will ensure seamless site access and connectivity by utilizing the existing infrastructure.
UAEV, as the first nationwide EV charging network fully owned by the UAE government, is dedicated to supporting the country’s long-term sustainability goals.
