UAE Ministry of Culture Allocates AED 3.3 Million to Beneficiaries of the Second Cycle of the National Grant Programme for Culture and Creativity

The UAE Ministry of Culture has announced the allocation of AED 3,296,300 to 43 talented Emiratis as part of the second cycle of the National Grant Programme for Culture and Creativity. Launched in August 2023, this initiative aims to support individuals across various cultural and creative fields, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to bolstering its cultural and creative sectors.

The second cycle of the programme, which followed the success of the first, saw a significant increase in applications, particularly from projects aligned with sustainable development goals. The diversity in the age, social, and cultural backgrounds of participants, along with an improvement in the quality of submissions, was also noted.

The grants were distributed across four categories: Creation and Production, Promotion and Local Participation, Capacity Development, and International Travel and Mobility. These categories encompass a wide range of fields, including writing and publishing, film and television, music, visual arts and design, performing arts and theatre, cultural heritage, and video games.

His Excellency Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, expressed pride in the vibrant cultural and creative landscape of the UAE, emphasizing the ministry's commitment to providing resources that will help realize the visions and aspirations of the nation's creative talents.

Among the recipients were Jumairi, Sheikha Al Mazrou, and Jumana Al Hashemi in the Visual Arts and Design category; Arqam Al Abri and Ihab Darwish in the Music category; Iman Al Sayed and Nayla Al Khaja in the Film and Television category; and Salem Al Suwaidi and Sarah Al Muhairi in the Writing and Publishing category. Additionally, grants were awarded in the fields of performing arts, cultural heritage, and video games, further highlighting the diversity and breadth of talent supported by the programme.
