Supreme Legislation Committee highlights feature of its Dubai Governments app Official Gazette on the opening day of GITEX Technology Week 2015

The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) highlighted the interactive features of its unified knowledge-based application, Dubai Governments app Official Gazette, during the opening day of this years edition of GITEX Technology Week, the largest information and communications technology (ICT) event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, which is held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) under the theme, The Internet Future of Everything. The new app is the latest addition to SLCs Smart services portfolio, which have been designed according to the standards of excellence and innovation to support the efforts of Dubais transformation into the worlds leading Smart City.

On the shows opening day, the Dubai Governments app Official Gazette received strong response from decision makers, senior official personalities and event visitors--all lauding SLC's strategic efforts to implement the highest standards of innovation and excellence and to develop a high-end unified knowledge base that provides ease of access to the legislations of Dubai.

H.E. Ahmad Bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of Supreme Legislation Committee, expressed happiness in SLCs participation at GITEX for the second time as the event serves as a strategic platform for the committee to unveil its latest Smart services like the Dubai Governments Official Gazette, which will be launched during Gitex 2015 and will offers select Smart services like local legislations, official gazette editions and legislation in English language.

Al Muhairi said: This new Smart application represents our continuing efforts to develop high-end knowledge based apps that utilizes the latest technologies--giving ease-of-use access to legislative information on Dubai. The development of excellent Smart services demonstrates our commitment towards creating a solid legal environment and an integrated legislative system that supports sustainable development plans in Dubai. We are keen on continuing our efforts to fully utilize the latest technologies to address the requirements of Dubais transformation into a Smart city, responding to the vanguard vision and directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Khalid Al Suwaidi, Head of IT Department at Supreme Legislation Committee, said: Our presence at GITEX will give us the opportunity to shed light on the excellent features of the Dubai Governments app Official Gazette. The Supreme Legislation Committee has remained steadfast in its commitment towards playing a key role in the move towards Smart transformation, reflected in our development of an integrated portfolio of Smart e-services for 2016. This will contribute in our strategic plans to develop the legislative process and enhance the legal system, as well as ensure efficient implementation of legislations in Dubai.

During their participation at GITEX Technology Week, The Supreme Legislation Committee will also feature its other Smart services, which have all been designed and develop to support Dubais transformation into a Smart city. These services include the Smart Legislation Service, which covers the use of public surveys on pending legislation, its ePay service for subscriptions to the Official Gazette, and a service that will enable local authorities in Dubai to participate and learn about the legislation preparation stages.

The Supreme Legislation Committee was established pursuant to Decree No. (23) of 2014 in line with the strategic plans of the Government of Dubai. The committee is tasked with the regulation and review of all issued legislation in Dubai via the adoption of a clear and effective procedure and methodology; developing the legislative process and improving legislation quality and efficiency; creating a legal system that can fulfill the aspirations and visions of the emirate and ensure that legislative provisions are in compliance with the Constitution and applicable with both federal and local legislation.
