RTA runs campaign to ensure body safety of driver training vehicles
The Monitoring & Enforcement Department, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has launched an inspection campaign targeting driver-training vehicles as part of a collection of projects to occur throughout this year. Such campaigns focus on verifying the conformity of driving establishments with the safety of vehicles, and the availability of safety devices on board.
"This project is mainly aimed at confirming the compliance of the driving institutes with the driving principles, be it periodic procedures relating to the body system, tires, lights, windscreen as well as safety belt of the automobile, or security devices in light learning vehicles, buses or heavy trucks such as the first aid kit, reflective triangle, hammer, and also the fire extinguisher. The campaign likewise analyzed the compliance of instructors with the application of the fundamental principles of students, especially throughout the first phase of training created by the Licensing Agency," said Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA's Licensing Agency.
"Sophisticated modern technologies are being used in the evaluation process to define the basic problem of the car together with associated faults, with specific focus on the body of the automobile. Regarding 396 inspection campaigns have been launched targeting 2334 driving learning vehicle in Dubai. The projects run by a team of 10 performance monitoring inspectors & supervisors at different driving facilities in Dubai (Emirates Driving Institute, Belhasa, Al Ahli, Galadari, Dubai International, as well as Dubai Driving Center).
"Results of the project were considerable and also added to spotting some observations in facilities, which have actually been attended to. A poster was made for the use of the Monitoring & Enforcement Department for acknowledging vehicles that have been inspected by various other examiners.The process will assist the duty of the inspector without wasting the time of the trainee. It was also noted that some trainees do not know the basic principles of vehicle operation.
"Recommendations raised in the light of the inspection projects consisted of sending official letters to institutes asking them to educate driver license candidates on the key principles of automobile operation, particularly in the preliminary phase. An additional official letter was sent to them concerning violations of each driving facility identified after the campaign pertaining to violations kept track of in each campaign, and even provided them 10-day notification to restore the situation," said Bahrozyan.
He stressed the significance of the projects as they support finding a number of negative practices, which are being treated, and also favorable elements that are being boosted in order to raise the efficiency & capability of inspectors to improve performance towards realizing RTAs goals.
