Rental Disputes Center holds ‘Litigation Lab’ to enhance innovation and judicial efficiency in Dubai’s rental sector

In line with its commitment to advancing professional and judicial standards, the Rental Disputes Center (RDC) has held a knowledge-sharing session titled “Litigation Lab” at Al Shindagha Museum in Dubai, bringing together RDC judges to explore future-focused development pathways and strengthen justice in the emirate’s rental sector.

The session served as a forward-looking platform aimed at integrating smart systems and innovative methodologies to enhance case management, accelerate dispute resolution, and ensure accuracy in judicial outcomes. The initiative reinforces the RDC’s role as a specialised judicial authority dedicated to safeguarding the rights of all parties in the rental market.

Structured around two main tracks, the workshop focused first on improving services and operational procedures, and second on identifying challenges and transforming them into sustainable improvement opportunities in collaboration with strategic partners. Judges also discussed the application of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to streamline litigation processes, aligning with the Government of Dubai’s vision for smart and efficient judicial services.

During the services and operations track, judges examined key judicial responsibilities, including adjudicating substantive claims, reviewing enforcement procedures, handling petitions and grievances, and managing rental dispute workflows from case registration through to the issuance of rulings. Discussions emphasised efficiency, procedural consistency, and clarity throughout the litigation process.

Additional topics included performance orders, mechanisms to expedite their handling, interpretation of judgments, correction of material errors, and addressing omissions in case files. These measures aim to enhance transparency and ensure a clear and consistent legal path for landlords, tenants, and leaseholders.

The second track addressed challenges affecting workflow efficiency and the continued development of smart litigation platforms. Participants proposed practical strategies to overcome these challenges, with emphasis placed on issuing fair and varied judgments, establishing flexible judicial standards through modern technology, and strengthening integration with relevant public and private sector entities. The importance of stakeholder satisfaction through transparent, time-efficient services was also highlighted as part of the RDC’s digital transformation agenda.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Hamed Abdullah Murad Yousef, First Instance Judge and Head of the Institutional Analysis and Development Team at RDC, said the Litigation Lab reflects the Center’s commitment to continuous judicial development and the unification of legal perspectives. He noted that updating legal methodologies strengthens public trust and ensures timely justice delivered with professionalism and transparency.

Judge Dr. Rashid Juma Al Jabri, Deputy Head of the Institutional Analysis and Development Team, described the Litigation Lab as an interactive platform for exchanging expertise and systematic work strategies, highlighting its role in supporting accelerated justice and institutional innovation within Dubai’s rental sector.

The session concluded with a set of practical recommendations aimed at supporting the RDC’s professional development and advancing a more sophisticated judicial system for resolving rental and jointly owned property disputes, contributing to comprehensive justice in Dubai’s real estate market.
