Ministry of Education Launches Second Phase of Recognition System for Foreign University Certificates
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched the second phase of its ‘University Certificates Recognition’ system, designed to facilitate the recognition of degrees issued by foreign higher education institutions (HEIs). This move aligns with the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, aiming to provide top-notch services to students and streamline bureaucratic processes.
Following the success of the first phase, which saw a significant reduction in customer complaints by 85% and an increase in customer satisfaction to 90%, the second phase introduces further enhancements. The updated system decreases the number of required documents by 85%, reduces transaction execution time by 50%, and halves the steps needed for certificate recognition.
Dr. Hassan AlSayegh, Advisor to the Minister of Education and Head of the Customer Experience Transformation Committee at the MoE, highlighted the proactive steps taken to launch this phase based on user feedback and ongoing monitoring. He noted the positive outcomes that align with the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, encouraging the Ministry to continue adopting an agile approach for further improvements.
The new amendments in the second phase focus on easing recognition criteria for various academic specializations, including Architecture and Built Environment, Computer Science and Information Systems, Data Sciences, Natural Sciences, Education and Training, and Law and Legal Studies. As the global ranking of the HEI granting the degree increases, the procedures for degree recognition decrease, thus improving the quality of higher education outcomes.
With more than 60,000 students in foreign HEIs expected to benefit in 2024, the updated system promises faster, more efficient, and flexible digital services to help students complete their academic studies or enter the labor market seamlessly.
All information and requirements related to the ‘University Certificates Recognition’ system are available on the MoE’s website. The Ministry encourages current and past graduates from foreign HEIs to utilize the new amendments and complete their recognition procedures digitally.
